6045DJ LEISTUNGSABZEICHEN - German Youth Proficiency Badge, created a special grade from iron in September 1935, in the form of a sigrune, or Runic S, the silver award became available at age 12, until then, a black iron award was available for the 10 year old youth.  What is unique about this award is it is stamped with two serial numbers;  the core material of this badge is buntmetall or tombak, a more commonly known metal core, although both mean the same, "coloured metal" such as copper, bronze, brass and a myriad of white metal alloys as well.  By the end of 1943 when records were still very accurate, 152,000 had been awarded to German nationals, and 217,093 were awarded to foreigners.  The two serial numbers can plainly be seen on the reverse, but are 195,607 & 787994.  The first "7" is an over stamp with a partial over stamp on the second number "8".  The RZM and maker's number are stamped at the end of the badge, so small, it took a #10 loop in the daylight to make it out as RZM M1/35, WACHTLER & LANGE, MITTWEIDA; IMHO this badge should never have passed RZM quality control for it's irregularities. Genuine, nonetheless.  Any additional information on this one is always appreciated, as both numbers exceed the amount of badges awarded when this award was discontinued in 1944.  The above information is credited to David Littlejohn and just above, Col. John Angolia.
