MODELL - Combined Pilot's and Observer's Badge, hallmarked "GWL" GEBRÜDER WEGERHOFF; same dimensions as the pilot's badge, but has a gold anodized wreath, and a silver plated swastika and eagle. Dimensions for the wreath are Height: 52.40mm; Width: 42.10mm; attachment pin: 51.75mm, eagle wing to wing: 63.80mm; Swastika top right to bottom right: 11.85mm; Swastika measurement at 90° to 270°, 16.10mm; right gilt wreath (buntmetall core) 8mm, left wreath, 270°, 8mm; neck of eagle to the claws measure 12.85mm; "GWL" 7mm; round indent deeper at 180°, nearley flush at 360°. Weight: 44.591gr. Very, very light wear to the tops of the oak leaves, the other side is totally mint. Likewise, the tops of the chaff on the left side barely show any wear at all. One could classify this badge more to the mint side than the near mint side. In any case, this is an extraordinary early high grade combination badge. The rivets are lightly indented. Less so than other examples I have seen. Thus the eagle itself can rock back and forth if you grasp the wings and swastika, you can feel slight movement. Natural patina on the silver wings are very apparent whilst the swastika has been polished to the degree the buntmetall underneath will shine in bright light. This badge was acquired from Detlev Niemann about 8 years ago. It was sold by me about that time to a collector who kept it until a few months ago. It has been in my possession then and to the present. The previous owner opted to trade for other goods. As always, this badge is guaranteed genuine for as long as the new buyer keeps it in his collection. | $2,450.00 | | 66869 | | FLAKABZEICHEN DIE LUFTWAFFE - Luftwaffe Flak Badge, unmarked, typical of C.E.
